Former Beatle Paul McCartney and wife, Linda, were among the 250,000 crowd that witnesses the entertainment of the Rolling Stones on the grounds of Knebworth House late 8/21. It was after midnight when the Rolling Stones finally left the stage in a British version of Woodstock – an open-air concert for the quarter of a million fans. They played until the wee hours and the crowd was still dispersing at dawn.
This classic picture of Linda and Paul McCartney enjoying a concert with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, it has been circulated around the internet with not much information regarding what was actually happening.
The rumours around this picture are that this was taken at a Led Zeppelin show back in 74, But in truth this was taken at the UK's Knebworth Fair in 1976 which was headlined by The Rolling Stones.
In investigating though I was able to find that the Stones didnt take the stage until well after dark, and the music most likley being heard in the photos above would most likely be Lynyrd Skynyrd.
This photo below shows the couple enjoying the music, no Gilmour to be seen:

There is also this photo of Paul and David backstage at the festival.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren and Hot Tuna also performed at the show. Queen was originally supposed to be there, but got bumped when the mighty Stones offered to play. David Gilmour and Pink Floyd had headlined the festival the year before.
Here’s what the stage looked like, to give you an idea of what Paul, Linda and David were seeing in that moment

God damn.. to be alive durring those days of the musical revolution would sure be an amazing experience, one I hope the folks that were there didn't take for granted.
